A VIGNARELLA, our history
This beautiful typical Corsican house that offers to welcome you, was the common dream of San Matteo and his children.
San Matteo was born in VENTISERI where he returned after being wounded during the 1870 war between the French empire and the Prussian kingdom. He founded a family of five children: Noël, Camille, Jean, Lucie and Eugénie.
At the beginning of the 20th century, San Matteo and his sons decided to build a very large house that could accommodate the whole family : The New House (A CASA NOVA) in the hamlet VIGNARELLA. Time passed, the children swarmed and after the disappearance of San Matteo and his wife, A VIGNARELLA became a holiday home less and less frequented. Abandoned by the twenty or so heirs, she fell into ruin. |
In 2009, Fabien, the great-great grandson of San MATTEO,
decided to revive the family home.
After 12 years of work, A VIGNARELLA is ready to welcome you today.
